Description

  1. Mamma Mia is a beloved classic in the musical genre, but also a bit of an outlier when compared to the other common "greats." There isn't a particularly compelling plot, no complex or iconic dance numbers, and no original songs to its name. So why do people love it so much? The answer is simple: because it's fun! Mamma Mia stands out among musicals because the audience can tell just how much fun each actor has in their performance, and it brings the audience joy in return. In our winter class, we are going to tackle just that. Why do we do theatre in the first place? What do we want to accomplish through our performances? How do we incorporate that "why" into our singing, dancing, acting, and offstage behavior? We will focus on why we love what we do, and how to have fun doing what we love, all in  sequined ABBA glory.

* There will be no classes from December 20th- January 5th.
*Our Fall Showcase for ALL New Braunfels classes will be Monday, February 3rd at New Braunfels Bible Church.

Alysen is CYT Austin alum, educator and actor across the Central Texas Area! A senior at Texas State University, Alysen is pursuing Secondary Education. She does community theatre across the region as well. She is dedicated to integrating her faith and community into all of her work and loves that CYT does the same.
